What We Don't Do

We do not handle domesticated animals like dogs and cats except for feral animals the county refuses to handle. For the removal of domesticated dogs and cats, call your County Animal Control Department. Their telephone number can be found in the front, blue pages of your telephone book, under the COUNTY GOVERNMENT heading. Look for Animal Control in your county. They are a government entity, paid with our tax dollars, license fees, fines and contributions.

Dead animals
Dead animal and odor removal is the subject of many calls, especially large animals like Deer. If the dead animal is within 30 feet of the center line of the road you live on, whoever is responsible for plowing the road is also responsible for the disposal of the animal. It is typically the city, township, county or state.

Injured Animals
It is illegal and dangerous for the general public to restrain injured wildlife or attempt rehabilitation without a license. If you encounter a dead animal, do not touch it in case it is stunned or resting. It may recover or be found by its mother if left alone.

If an animal is injured on a roadway, contact the police department that patrols that road or highway and report the animal species if possible, i.e. deer, coon, hawk, etc. The Department of Natural Resource’s (DNR) telephone number is in the& State Government (Blue Pages) section, in front of the phone book.

If, after watching the animal for at least 30-60 minutes, you are sure it is sick, injured or acting abnormally, call your State Department of Natural Resources for consultation and information on State Licensed Animal Rehabilitators. Most rehabilitators specialize in rare animals or birds vs. those that are heavily populated. Although licensed by the State, rehabilitators are NOT funded by the State and rely on contributions and donations from people like you.
